Methinks those homeless folks did you a favour. . . Imagine wandering around the bar going, "you the UKBF* group?" [* Pronounced Uckbiff] You would have got some strange looks. . .

I spotted someone looking a little lost, I was about to go and ask if they were looking for us but he ended up in conversation with someone at the bar.

An hour later he strolled over to us. It was Ray and he'd been busy selling printing services to a random stranger! I think he got the sale though.

    Once a salesman - always a salesman ;)

Mind, I don't think I would have got the order if I had been selling to him at the end of the evening..................:p

Well, I got to the bar early, and approached each group to see if any were ours, and concluded I was the first to arrive.

I then asked some guys at the bar if they were from UKBF - and one chap said "no, but I'll talk to you anyway" :)

He turned out to be a really great bloke, and we talked about all sorts of stuff.

About three quarters of the way through our hours chat, the topic turned to business, and I explained what I do - and the cost benefits of using an online printing service.

To which he replied, that's interesting as I am the head buyer for a major marine insurance company................and how much are your business cards for example?

Well, it was simple to close the deal from there :)

Excellent! Reminds me of the time when I managed to get an Investor off ebay, of all places, and they paid £1 for the priviledge to go into negotiations with me :)

    Hi James,

I'll certainly try to remember. Best thing you can do though is register at www.trustnetworkers.com - I always email that list for anything in London.

I worked down whitechapel when I was a student...in a dingy crummy cramped cold office for a pittance as a coordinator for an exec car and courier company from 6 til 2am every day and lived on red bull to get me thru lectures.

The one thing I was ready and did actually brave getting on a motorbike for was the bagels on brick lane.

It was a standing joke between myself and my manager about trying to get bacon bagels.....

Ahhh cream cheese, smoked salmon, egg mayo, salt beef....

Now you tell me you were up there on the lash earlier in the month, you better go back and get me a dozen bagels on the double.
