How is this for frustrating: I have very recently started a bookkeeping service. I placed an ad in the local free papers, hoping that this would be a good way to generate some interest. A catalogue of errors, of epic proportions, has ensued and I really do not know what to do about it and any advice would be gratefully received.
And here it us:
1)The first pre-press proof came to me and the set-up of the ad was so appalingly amateurish that I had to send them a mock-up of what I wanted or withdraw the ad. (They had even written my email address over two lines rather than reducing the size of the font). So really, all they had to do was copy and paste but no......
2) They sent me pre-press proof version two and they had omitted a number from my mobile telephone number. I instantly wrote back to point out the error and was assured it would be resolved.
3) The following day, I received a copy of my free paper and alarmingly, the incorrect version had been printed. Also, the ad that had been printed was half the size of the one I had requested. The telesales person had taken it upon herself to decide the most cost-effective size ad for me even though I had told her that I wanted an advert that was the same size as one already running, quoting her the company name and page number of the paper.
4) I emailed my contact to complain and was told that she was sorry about the inconvenience of the error in the ad and was also told (in the most appallingly bad use of the english language I have ever encountered) that she had done nothing wrong and had only tried to help me! (Lots of misspellings and plenty of exclamation marks in the email.)
5) Following a demand to speak to her manager, I was told that they would refund me in full, that the advert would be corrected and that they were sorry for the inconvenience.
6) I received my copy of my free paper today and lo and behold, the wrong phone number has been used again. This ad went into the 5 loal free papers so that is a total of ten incorrect ads. Am I being unreasonable by being very angry? And what action would you expect to be taken??
