Morning All

Looking to move my domains away from 123 reg as they are becoming a bit of a pain. Their auto renewal system has been annoying me for weeks now, finally had enough and I want out.

Can someone recommend a good UK based domain holder/registrar?

Thanks

Hi,

We can help with this. No fee to change to our Nominet IPS Tage "ITCOMM" and with Domain Renewal only £6 per two years. Each domain can be set to auto renew or manually renew each domain, the option is yours.

Also you get full control over the domain in terms of name servers, IPS Tag Change and is fully automated so any changes are in real time.

Hi,

Who do you currently host with?

Some web hosts like us provide a free domain for life with each hosting account, so if you were thinking of moving web hosts as well you could sort out both at the same time, which would be more cost effective.

Any decent host will provide you with full control over the domain and as it's registered in your name there's no need to keep it separate from the hosting if you're with a decent provider.

With a web host, domains are typically provided more as a service to clients so you'll often find pricing far better than than with a company that's only a registrar.

Good luck,

Dan

But 123-Reg charge £10+VAT per domain to transfer out.

However for .uk domains the cheaper way to do it is via nominet directly as you can bulk transfer in one go at a single fee of £10+VAT

That's true, and a number of people of have been caught out by that as 123-Reg quietly brought that change in.

However if you complain then they'll remove the fee.

We've advised a number of our clients who were previously registered with 123-Reg of that and it's worked for them.

Not charging for an IPS-Tag change is the norm however. That's simply how Nominet domains work, the expiration date doesn't change but the Tag, and hence the registrar that administers the domain, can.

It's simply 123-Reg that have changed their policy to try to lock people in.
Much like their auto domain renewal system which MAWuk mentioned, and has caught a number of people out.
