Tweet as me/as a company?

Well, I'm finally joining Twitter (10 years too late I know ;)) but I'm making the decision of tweeting under the company name or tweeting under my personal name...

I see benefits in both and I will take both usernames to avoid them being taken. I think it's better to tweet as me, as it's a personal communication which is the way I want it to come across.

Seen this good article by Emily http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=124060

Any thoughts appreciated :)

People with as much character as you, Stefan (and you, Duane) don't need to hide behind a corporate identity. Tweet as yourself, I say :)

(Although my Twitter username is @debbidoo, my name is on my profile and so is my photo. And besides, people do actually call me 'debbidoo' so it is kind of my name!) :D

Thanks all -

Debs - Cheers for the kind words ;) As you've seen, I've gone personal!

Cheers Max - you know my naming efforts too well ;) haha ... I'm settled now though!

Vanman - It's not the craze, it's about posting concise bits of information to followers - it's been proven to bring in business for many.

I use part of my business name @angliasolutions so it covers both companies and i tweet mainly personally but throw the ocassional special offer and reminder in there. I make sure my face is my profile pic and that my name is on there to make it more personal.

I guess it is personal preference. Right, i'd better go Tweet that i had tuna salad for lunch LOL!

I tweet as 'spareground' but use my own name so people can search for me either way if they want.
I suppose it depends on how you want to use twitter, I use it from both business and personal perspectives.
I guess the way I look at it is if someone searches for spareground because they like this business model then they can also see that there's a 'real' person behind it with their own opinions and thoughts as opposed to some impersonal corporate organisation spouting the company line.
However, you do need to be careful if you want to tweet something that you wouldn't particularly want to be a taken as a reflection of your company's views! If they are poles apart, get two accounts!

I have three accounts (just to be special) and it helps to keep people I am following and my followers relevant :)

@maxinemaxxy @floatltd @creditmanageruk

I think if I was to prattle on about irrelevant business stuff it would switch some people off

Twitter def working for maxxy as I have done 14 quotes from last week alone which is our 2nd highest source of enquiries now. It did take a fair bit of time to get established though.

It's not working for Float but guess that will take a bit more time.

:)
