Hi All,

I wanted to know your thoughts on the subscription to Entrepreneurs Circle. There is a lot of advertisements for them at the moment, the explanatory video whilst verbose, it seems to make sense. Is this just a repackaged course provided 10 years ago that went out of fashion or is this actually something that may be useful?

I have had sage advice/experience sharing for a £0/month subscription for years...simply by sitting down with other entrepeneurs for a coffee in the form of my customers, my suppliers, other industry contacts. And picking their brains, and these are people at the coalface of the same industry I work in. As for these courses, I have doubts entrepeneurship is the profession for people who need/require to be almost classroom taught it, but that is just my opinion of those who seem to make it and those who don't.

But LinkedIn membership is included! Got to be worth the £600/month just for that.

I think you have hit the nail on the head re sitting down with customers/suppliers etc and having frank discussions, although it is a bit of a game as you are not 100% aligned with outcomes. The subscription is more of a tailored business coaching/consulting/advice service rather than lessons/course, but i get your point and i wonder how many of the consultants just go through a formula as opposed to being experienced specialists in their field.

The idea of franchised coaching is something of an oxymoron IMO

Sure, there will be some useful insights and ideas, but at that level you want something that revolves around you, not around somebody else's model.

This forum can bea great source of advice, but isn't really coaching or consultancy.

The starting question must be what are you actually looking for/hoping to achieve?

Good question. At this point im simply looking at what everyones view is on this service. The reality is, that the majority of posters on here are probably not likely to buy this as they are pretty expert (maybe not in all aspects).

The reason I want to know this is that ive been offered an opportunity to work with an accounting firm that offers a somewhat competing service (no company would buy both services), that has a very new offering that produces and utilises monthly financials to review agreed KPI's and help guide the business. Happy to have high level views on this, however its not clear in my head exactly how the process works or what the offer is. When I am a little clearer I will come forward for everyone's view on this and a website.

I'd suggest that absolutely everyone on business can benefit from some form of mentoring / coaching or whatever you choose to call it - up to & including the likes of Mr Branson.

Arguably those who most need it are those who argue loudly against it.

Unfortunately, the industry itself is a bit murky - lots of snake-oil, but far more generic, fairly meaningless 'system' stuff.

As a reputable accounting firm, you should at least avoid the snake oil label - but will your stuff be tailored, or just churned out? (Again, £600 is a lot to pay for churned info).

Like anything, the value is what you get out of it. If paying that money gives you something other things do not and helps you grow your business/sales/profits etc, then it could be a small price to pay.

However, when you compare to the costs of other things like UKBF full membership or other business groups that do give you tangible benefits, I find it hard to justify.

Sadly, I have met too many people who sign up to loads of these things and spend so much time participating, they have no time for their actual business. Also, at the end of the year, they are several grand down and finding it tough to make ends meet!

How do you do this if there aren't many locally? Can you do coffee over zoom?

I think this is because their are different learning styles and entrepreneurs tend to be learn while doing rather than learn by reading books types. So that type naturally gravitate towards it. Their is a reason it's a master of business arts not science.

Is therer eally such a thing as entrepreneurs, or just gamblers risking their money on other peoples idea's after all Virgin airways was a Idea sold to Branson and the idea man was fired after he had it set it up for Branson
Do the dragons den members really sit around meetings to discuss what's going on
    Does networking really work
does other peoples work on information relate to you and how good is it, why don't all stockbrokers get rich at the same time
I guess everyone who has started a business is a entrepreneur or do you have to have many businesses to qualify
As you can see I hate the bloody word

James Sinclair (used to be interesting) has a similar thing where wannabees with too much time and money are giving him £500/600 a month for the opportunity to book a room in his hotel, eat in his restaurant and exchange pleasantries with a dozen or so others who believe the same dream.
