Could someone explain what the following means in non-technical terms? Appeared a couple of days ago, no changes have been made to web site.

How to fix: Not performing automatic item updates for availability
Automatic item updates have stopped updating all of your items. This temporary stop is a result of incorrect microdata on your website or a large-scale mismatch of microdata and Merchant Center product data.

Once you resolve issues with your microdata, item availability [availability] for your Shopping ads will be updated automatically using structured data markup or advanced data extractors on your product landing pages. This leads both to an improved user experience and to higher click-through and conversion rates.

Ask your web developer to fix your on your site and upload the shopping feed again.

Too little information here really, and your profile doesn't let us see your website to check your markup.

As Nico says, its likely to be microdata ( markup) related. However, judging by the reference to availability, I suspect you show stock levels on the site/markup and these don't match the Google Merchant Centre data supplied by your feed (we've had a similar type of issue with in day price discrepancies before). Is the update for these not synched; e.g. do you show items as out of stock in one place, but in stock in the other?

The feed is generated around 9pm, picked up by Google at 2am. May well be items out of stock by then or before the next feed is generated.
