I've just read that a sole trader cannot invoice a ltd company that they are director of. I am director if a limited company, and as part of that company we rent out offices. I also am self employed doing freelance work but need an office base so wanted to rent a room in the ltd company building. Is this allowed?

Yes it is allowed. What is not allowed is you billing the limited company for doing work that you should do as an employee.

Great thank you. So could I bill myself as self employed for work that would not come under the ltd company? For example, ltd company is an office building, renting out serviced office spaces, could I bill myself as a self employed painter/decorator?
