Which platform is the best for security, Magento or BigCommerce?

It depends it will only be as secure as you make it, I use ecwids , very secure is covered with the same security as the Amazon Cloud (so very secure), it is the #1 FaceBook eCommerce app - mainly because you can easily setup the same store directly from within FaceBook.

In plain english that means as well as having it on your website - you have a facebook instance of it - people can buy your products directly fromwithin their facebok session - they never even have to leave their facebook page (which means it fits amazingly well with facebook advert promotion)

They're different things, one is cloud-based, one it self-hosted. Why are you asking? Some context would help.

Have you considered anything else? Magento is a behemoth and not something I recommend to a startup. There are plenty of smaller and more user friendly ecommerce solutions which are secure. Opencart for one or WooCommerce

The more US based the more security to the degree of?

In any case you can't go wrong with either choice as long as the brand is established well enough and BigCommerce certainly is. Shopify is another.

For a more in depth answer I would need more context to go on further please
