I've been self employed for years but have also recently started working as a subcontractor, being paid under the CIS scheme. I'm registered as a CIS subcontractor and have given all my info to the contractor I've done work for. So far I've had a couple of payments and as far as I'm aware the 20% deduction has been paid to HMRC. The contractor is stating at the moment they are unable to give me any written proof of these payments which I am required by law to keep a record of. Can someone tell me what info should be included on these statements and if there's any reason why the contractor might not be able to provide me with this information.
