    Hi
I am interested in listing a few beauty type products and small boxed items say under 1kg.
I don't know how many I will get per day but if I post said small box which isn't a small packet its £4.5 signed for 2nd class I think.
I would like a path that is better value that I can grow in as my business scales.
    Thanks for suggestions.

Try non signed for 2nd class. Its cheaper. Losses should be a lot less for most sellers than spending a pound or more extra per parcel to maybe get it signed for.

Once you are on target to do a thousand postal items a year you can get a click and drop account with royal mail, slightly lower prices usually and volume can reduce further. And there is no small / medium packet nonsense, all parcels are the same size for pricing up to a limit.

As Pish_Pash recently pointed out, Hermes do a parcel delivery cheaper than royal mail.

I don't care who it is with just want it cheaper. Feel I need to get it signed for because a lot of people pretend it didn't get delivered if not. At least my perception. Might we worth a try for the beauty products. My other ones would be too valuable.

Royal Mail is the only option for me. Don’t bother with signed for - if you lose 1 in 100 parcels (you shouldn’t be losing this many!) you’ve paid £100 just to stop that 1.

Best value and best service for small parcels is Royal Mail. Hermes do signed for but the service can be up to 3 or 4 days if you take it to a drop off point. Add another day if they collect. Cheap is not always the best option for you or your customers.

As a small business owner myself, I can recommend the Royal Mail 1st class service. They deliver six days a week including on Saturday, offer online delivery confirmation on all parcels and aim for next day delivery. Generally their 'small parcels' are classified as anything under 2kg with a 1kg parcel costing around £3.55 per parcel.

As a growing business, you will need to partner with a parcel delivery company with a widespread footprint throughout the country and constant support through their effective customer relations team, in case anything does go wrong. Royal Mail offers all of this and more!

Sign up for a Royal Mail business account / OBA.

You could use Royal Mail 24 or 48, both come with delivery confirmations (not signature) but still confirmed that customer has received.

    1KG Parcel Royal Mail 24 - £2.83
    1KG Parcel Royal Mail 48 - £2.26
