    Hi,
Please could folk recommend me a Xero certified accountant that provides an efficient and professional service as well as sound advice. My business in a nutshell:

Mountain guiding business based in the Highlands
One man band limited company (not sure if I should be limited or sole trader)
    Employ a number of freelancers
VAT Flat-rate Scheme registered, although I'll probably look to drop back beneath the threshold
Xero user (including Payroll) for the past year and a half (so far so good, but it's not the cheapest of packages)
I'm fed up of poor (to non-existent) service from current accountant, who rarely replies to my occasional emails. When we do chat, he uses plenty of jargon, which I don't fully understand.

    Thanks!

I found myself in the same situation with our previous accountant being less than useless (still dealing with the mess they made to be honest) someone on here recommended @Glenn Martin of http://averymartin.co.uk and could not be happier since the switch.

Feel like someone is actually interested in the business and I get a clear personal response from a partner about my questions rather than an endless stream of juniors making mistakes like the last firm we used. Would recommend you give him a call as he was able to quickly and efficiently take over our books and Xero account and has helped get us back on track.

So you will need a Scottish accountant (different laws and different taxes and conditions of business, so using an English accountancy practice could land you in trouble and missed opportunities!) and I can strongly recommend Johnson Carmichael, who also have several Xero specialists and as a company, they recommend the use of Xero for SMEs.

They are somewhat on the expensive side, so negotiate them down if you are a small company with few transactions and complications.

Thanks for the replies. I should have added that the business is registered in England.
