    Hi

Im (slowly) setting up an online shop using magento. What is the easiest or best way of accepting payments? I use paypal with my ebay account but i will have to upgrade to a business account to make it work with magento.

    Many Thanks

most popular amongst my clients is sagepay

theres a decent free extension to handle sagepay direct:

I was recently talking to paypoint (lets see if their forum watcher kicks in) and whilst their PSP offering does look good, they don't currently offer a freely available Magento integration so they are missing out on a big slice of the ecommerce pie at the moment.

For now though Sage is the one I recommend

I always like it when e-commerce solutions offer multiple payment routes. So if Sage is the number one solution, you might as well offer paypal as well.

Try checking which target markets (generally country specific) your focusing on and which payment systems they use.

and what is wrong with upgrading to a business account?

If cost is an issue, change your platorm from Magento to something else!!

Am sure the basic paypal business account is free, you need a business account and an internet merchant account with sage pay anyway.

Paypal basic is free and easy to integrate into magento.

I also found moneybookers to be a cheap and effective method of accepting credit card payments. The only downside is the the transaction appears on the customers credit card statement as "moneybookers" and not your store name. I also had one case where the customer was charged a cash advance fee by their bank for paying by moneybookers.
