Pay cheap pay twice

Twice I have had experience with printing companies. One did a reasonable price and quoted 100 pounds rest than the competition and then they took 10 weeks to deliver some presentation folders, thus loosing me a client. Now I have a simple job of business cards and they are not ready from someone else after two weeks. This is not great and causing me a lot of frustration.

My advice do not go for the cheapest. I did and lost out.

I think you have had a couple of bad experiences, but don't tar us all with the same brush. We're a cheap printer (I think so anyway), and orders go out within 24 hours. For example we are currently doing 250 business cards for £15, and if you order by 10am, they will be with you the next day. Not too shabby if I do say so myself.

Thanks my main gripe was what is the point of using anyone whatever the price is if they do not deliver and you end up with loosing a client and get a bad reputation when it is not your fault. Frustrating. I do not care now if people say they are 20 pounds or 50 pounds as long as they deliver but cheaper is better. Service is all in business and it is annoying when you simply get poor service.

but you advice on price doesn't just apply to printing, it applies to most things

Also bear in mind that this is not a hard and fast rule to live by! Yes definitely use advice from recommendation but there are great deals out there to be had especially when dealing with companies that are trying to get off the ground. New companies trying to establish themselves can often be cheaper to get that first sale and a foot in the door without compromising on service. I know when I first set up my suspended ceiling/partitioning company I had to to do a couple of jobs, looking back probably a bit too cheap but still give a good service which then led on to projects with a bit more margin on them.

Hard part after that is to get the margin up afterwards and not to set the bench mark. Some contractors after that just assume your always going to be cheaper and often use your quote to bring down the price of the company they are going to use which is very annoying.

Well, This is true that the cheapest options might not prove to be the best ones. But there are instances when really good work is delivered at very good price. Mostly, newbies or people who work in bulk can provide us the best and cheapest options. But we must make sure that we will get the desired prints delivered, there must not be any chance of any inferior quality prints.
