Hi all,

I have got a Canon iP3000 Inkjet printer.. and I bought ink for it the other day, and the colour works fine, BUT the black ink is not working!!!

I have tried nozzle checks, cleaning, manual cleaning, and it's just not working!!! Can anyone help with this at all??

I had this with my printer (lexmark) and the ink had dried over the escape hole, so I just put the cartridge in hot water for a few hours and then wiped the ink off..

I wouldn't think it would be that for yours though being new, it's either going to be a faulty cartridge or an issue with your printer.

Best bet is to take the cartridge back and get a replacement.

I bought a new black ink and it come today, HOWEVER it's not working as well. SO I guess it's a fault with the printer...

I should have mentioned in OP, that it is not new, I acquired it off a family member. who only used it a couple of times, hense why I now have it..

When I take the cartridges out of the holder, I cleaned the little pieces on the holder where the ink sinks through (sorry I know that doesn't make much sense) and it still does not work.. Do you think ink has dried up inside the 'holder' of the cartridges???

Probably the case. I wouldn't recommend poking anything right down the hole either as you may damage the print head, because that costs nearly as much as a new printer to replace.

I had the same problem a couple of years ago and some nail varnish remover on a cotton bud did it for me, although I don't suggest anyone else do the same thing because I was fully prepared to buy another printer if I mucked it up.

Nothing has worked.. black ink is just not working at all!!! I think it must be nakered, the printhead..

I might just buy a new printhead, or I seen a 'used' canon ip3000 (same as mine) for like £30, with inks, which is cheaper than buying a printhead!! AND I don't even know if it is the printhead, so a new printer might just do the trick..

Thanks everyone for your help.. =D

No point in this thread being open anymore.. can someone remove it now ;) save your memory space UKBF ;) how kind am I..
