I'm completely backing the idea of Pitcher and Piano then Cocomos. P&P is a very classy place on the Quayside so I think it's just the right environment for us business class folk ;)

Huge range of drinks, cocktails and nibbles too so there's a nice variation for everyone to maybe try something new.

I'm up for a pub after Cocomos, maybe the choice of pub could just be decided on the night.

Any room for a forum newbie? Personally my vote would probably go to the Gate, simply because I'm lazy and don't fancy walking down to the quayside ;)

I think it'd be great if we could start pulling this altogether - decide on location, date, time etc; draw up a list of attendees; and decide what type of meeting this is going to be - casual knees up, or a 'business club' type gathering.

Personally I'd love to be involved in the creation of a regular business club - I'm constantly bemoaning the lack of such groups in the North East area, so launching something like this would be fantastic in my eyes.

OK, I'm going to be brave here and say a date and place, lets see what answers we get.

If we were all to meet in the Pitcher and Piano on the Newcastle Quay Side. Here is a map Link, its the long building in the middle of the map. If you zoom out you can see southbound there is a car park behind the Baltic centre (on the south side of the river opposite the 2 boats moored up.

I am looking at a Thursday evening, so there are no drunks out to worry the people who are not looking for that kind of scene, so if i said Thursday the 3rd July, 2 weeks from now.

If it works out we could make it a fortnightly thing every Thursday, if that works we could make it weekly, but lets take it one step at a time :)

I'm also going to announce this on other business forums and business message posts like BDaily (Well ill tell them at least so if they publish it it will be a bonus).

    Ive also just bought www.northeastbusinessnetwork.co.uk

So I can put on a calendar of events, directory of people etc.

If others are interested in this type of thing, i will be more than happy to build and run this network/website for free as long as it is what people want..

Date and location sound great to me - and great catch on that domain name; if you want to share the load with regards the website and network just let me know and I'm sure we could discuss it during the meet.

    Hi Mike thanks
I'm just setting up a simple site at the moment, its nearly done actually, only started it an hour ago.

It will have a forum, calendar and a community system added so members can have their own place on it to show themselves off.

But i may well take you up on the offer, i will prob find a few people and make them super admins to the site so they can add and edit info as well as moderate any forums etc.

    Regards
    Ian

I'm happy with that date and location. I also still like the idea of going to Cocomos or another restaurant to take us into the last half of the evening.

Also you're giving me a lift there Ian

If I go I would like to take my partner, he helps me with the business anyway. However I may have to take a rain check on first meeting as I have loads on the next two weeks and need babysitters a lot.
I have my birthday to celebrate, ny friends birthday to celebrate, then another friends birthday, I have to watch my daughter playing in an orchestra at a samba night and my husband was nominated for pride of south tyneside as a role model so we have a presentaion night to attend for that too.

As much as I'd love it if we could get this kickstarted sooner rather than later, the interest in it - judging by responses here - has fizzled out a little; and I have a feeling that if we went ahead with just a few people that the whole idea of a regular meet will fizzle out too.

It might be worth biding our time, planning it out properly and trying to whip up some interest both on and off these forums in order to give it the kind of start it needs.

I realise I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but I don't think I'm alone in saying I'd rather have a regular meeting of 10-15 people than one evening with a handful.

I agree. I think we'll have to plan this properly and build up some good old fashioned hype about it.

I think it needs more planning and thought if it is to be a business networking meeting and not just simply a night out with a curry  It was starting to sound like simply a social nightout which I must admit slightly put me off. Don't get me wrong I love a night out but I was expecting more of a 'business'do, whatever that is?:p

I'm not sure really. Originally I thought it was just a 'meet-up' like other members of UKBF have had in the past where everyone meets in person and socialises. Now it seems to be turning more towards a networking event which is fair enough.
