New forum member, new business, advice needed :)

Hi everyone

Glad to be joining this interesting forum, what a great source of useful info!

My name is Simon, my background is in web development and online marketing (SEO work etc). But the finance industry really interests me at the moment and I'm researching into how to get into it, just as a side venture initially. I work part time now as a marketing consultant in the health sector, amongst other things <-- has many fingers in many pies lol

But Im now looking to start up a small company acting as a specialist broker for business hire purchase amd equipment/asset leasing (focusing on the health sector only). Now because of my work at present i've been lucky to establish an initial customer base already.

But i kind of need some advice/direction on methods of obtaining a variety of funding sources which i can work with so i can offer better deals. Is it some kind of black art? Im finding this quite difficult.

Can anyone reccommend any courses?, are any necessary to offer the services im interested in? do i have to get registered with the fsa?

Can any out there advise? I must stress im only focusing on the health sector! <--- not at all aiming to be competition to forum members who are brokers!! so any help will be appreciated.

interesting point. commercial is more like a 'black art' than the more straightforward retail mortgages (thanks to trigold and mortgage brain - who provide even an inept advisor with a reasonable chance of sourcing the best deal). you will need to make some contacts. try getting contacts within the major asset finance firms. from there it's a case of seeing where their expertise is and getting quotes from the one or two you know will be best in your field. i know some firms you may be interested in if you want to e-mail me. but also, google is your friend for this sort of research!
