New business & website launch, feedback welcomed

So I’m hoping to make a go of it as an pro artist. Gary says my work is good enough to sell and until I met him I would of never of thought about it.

Any help in getting this going would me much appreciated. We have 2 dilemmas:

Whilst the site is aimed at wholesale stockists we want to retail of course. Not being in England doesn’t help as craft fairs aren't an option. Maybe eBay is a good option to get a feel especially when I do paintings.

The other thing is maybe the stuff I do is worthy of a frame as it is and ditch the greeting card idea altogether?

Also I need to think about promotion, I'm already on a few sites like esources etc but need to get the exposure train running. I'm happy to offer art and/or cards as prizes in exchanges for write ups etc.

Dont bother with eBay it's a waste of time! LOL

Your paintings are ideal for the greetings card market, ut you will find self sellling very hard.

I would recommend sending samples of your work to publishers who will buy the picture rights or pay you in royalties.

Hi Gita,

I think your website looks really good but if you want to sell retail your customers should be able to buy it directly online (basket and credit card processor) so that they don't have to contact you to buy something.

Also you don't have any META TAG (keyword and description) which will help to have your website ranked in the different search engines...

Thanks Claire for that site I’ll check it out, i think Gary (my husband) looked at it ages ago but he say it looks like it's been updated. Selling the designs is something my Gary suggested.

Hi Joanne, our site isn't aimed at the retail market so it's not got a shopping cart. One of the things is that the cards really sell when you have them in front of you and we don't think people will buy from a site on it's own but they would from a suitable shop where you can hold the product and see the delicacy of it or when the product is maybe combined with something else.

We have some long days ahead getting the product out there and the shops/galleries sampling it.
