New business / Website feedback please.

Hello,

I am in the process of starting a small website design company, Medway Website Design. For a few weeks now I have being working on the design of my new website.

medwaypcs.co.uk/design/index1.htm
(a new domain will be registered)

I would appreciate users views and opinions on the site, so if necessary improvements can be made before launch.

(Please note I am currently just working on the design aspect of the site and so functionality is limited)

Regards,

Ben

Its different, but a bit too small IMO, it looks a bit odd, like a postcard in the middle of white space.

I like the image and the rollover on your links, but preferred the template and size of the Medway computers site you did.

But there both smart looking sites...

Well Ben, you are planning to sell a website design services. Now look from the customer side and think, would you buy a website design services from medwaypcs?
Personally I believe that your IMHO is too modest. I mean if you sell web design so firstly try to show to your customers how good you are on your personal website.

Again it's only my opinion.

Good luck,
Donatas

Caught in too minds here....

One one hand, I think your design is actually pretty beautiful... very simple and elegant (and uses nice compliant xhtml which is good)...

Bur perhaps more suited to a "micro-site" idea, and not suitable for a web design company... One things for sure, you've minimised the available space on the design for actual "content" which may be a problem for you when it comes to actually explaining what you do, client portfolio etc...

Buy as I say - the site itself is really great. Good luck to you.

autolycus,

I have tested my site in Firefox and so far have found no problems.
Could you please email a screenshot if you are experiencing a problem to:

Ben,

the bottom of the text on each of the menu buttons is being chopped off.

This is when viewed in Firefox at my default res of 1680 x 1050. I haven;t tried it at any other resolutions. It is fine in IE.

If you still can't see it, let me know and I will email a screenshot later on if I get a chance.

Dave.

Hello,

After some constructive critism on this business forum and others I have redesigned some aspects of my site to allow a greater content area. It is just a design at the moment but I would appreciate your thoughts before I implement it.

If you're looking to build a business specifically for design purposes then you need to concentrate on the aesthetics of building those webpages. There are various ways in which you could go ahead and design a website. However you must be careful of the functionalities which are being offered. The design must never dwarf the functionalities
