"Networking Extravaganza" in aid of the Homeless

Networking Extravaganza at the Methodist International Centre (MIC) in Euston, London from 5pm to 11pm on the evening of Wednesday 22nd March 2006 in aid of jointly the West London Day Centre and Modo Fac.

    West London Day Centre

The West London Day Centre offers a safe space away from the streets for people who are homeless or vulnerably housed. Based in Seymour Place, Marylebone, the Day Centre meets basic needs for food, clothing, showers and laundry as well as providing specialist support in the areas of mental health, substance misuse, benefits and rehousing.

The Day Centre is run by a small staff team supported by volunteers. In a friendly and welcoming environment they seek to help each person find a route away from the streets, and to support them in the process of change. It is open each weekday morning.

    Modo Fac

Modo Fac (meaning Just Do It) is the brainchild of Kerry Santo born from her own situation of previously being homeless and now wanting to realise her vision of walk-in centres across the country to provide assistance to the homeless. The first one of these will be in Edinburgh, Scotland where Kerry lives.

    The Event

The Networking Extravaganza will include 3 speakers (including Kerry Santo from Modo Fac, Jill Harris from the West London Day Centre and Penny Power from Ecademy, food and drink, an evening of sparkling networking, an auction of donated prizes and an auction of promises (of people's time and services) and a raffle of donated presents.

The aim is to raise as much money as possible to be equally split between the West London Day Centre and Modo Fac.

We will ensure that the event is cross-networked across all the existing networking communities and aiming for a turnout of between 100 and 200 on the night.

The entry price including food will be £20 of which £5 will go to cover food and staffing costs and £7.50 to both the West London Day Centre and Modo Fac.

There will be a cash bar available for the duration of the evening.

    What we need:-

A few people to help with organisation of the event, raffle and auction.

Many people to donate gifts, prizes, and their time and services to the raffle and auction of promises.

As many people as possible to buy their tickets now on a pay it forward basis so that the money can be given straight to the West London Day Centre and Modo Fac.
