Need to save money on postage!

Hi can anyone tell me the best franking machines to use? I have a website called uneakboutique.co.uk we send out parcels everyday to our customers by taking trips to the local post office and its getting a bit tiresome!

I think a franking machine would save me a lot of time and money but I'm so wary about being ripped off I thought I'd do some research and see if anyone has any good experiences?? I know there are a lot of sharks out there and I'm trying to avoid them!! Any help would be much appreciated!

You really need to do some calculations before you take out a franking machine, when we first setup an office in Liverpool we go a franking machine their seemed ok because it gave a couple of pence off the price of postage.

However unless you are sending a lot of items then these savings will be eaten up by the additional costs incurred when you get a franking machine, there is the obvious machine rental, then you have recharge fees, ink cartridges, lables and telephone calls (to recharge your credit) we worked it out that it would take over 400 first class items per month just to break even with the additional costs of a franking machine.

Depending on the quantity, size and weight of the items your sending it may be worth getting an account with someone like city link or DHL.

I agree, They say you say 5p a letter but that soon gets swallowed up by the machine rental and all the other bits. For us it was definately cheaper just to but stamps
