It's interesting you choose to take that view of it but explains why you don't understand the success of such nights.

I feel I'm being portrayed as 'battling for the other side' in this thread.

I'd like to state for the record, I'm all up for 'naughty school girls', the more the merrier!!!!

Callum. look mate. You have admitted yourself that you have no experience in being a promoter. Yet you don't listen to either the general public or those that have and to say that you didn't know this nite would clash with St Valentines nite is quite frankly unbelievable even for a newbe. You should have planned the most important nites from day one.

Do you even know when St.Patricks day is. That is on the 17th March. Do you know what is going to be the next big event of the year in 2011. Come on now man you have to be on the ball. Street parties are old hat and need to be licenced with insurance but a party nite on the 29th April to celebrate Williams Royal wedding in a pub is going to be be a sell out and you should have booked the DJ by now.

You really have to get your act together chum and if you think that young 17 year old girls can;t run rings around you on this Schoolgirl nite you are sadly mistaken and guess what. They wont have any money to spend anyway. I guarantee the publican will end up being out of pocket.

Where does it even hint that the nights clash? They don't.

The naughty schoolgirl night, by my reading, is 3 weeks from the start of this thread, which puts it at the end of January.

Valentine's Night is being held on Feb 14 this year ;)

Valentines Night traditionally is a big big winner and to my mind, I would have gone for something once a month and left this night clear of other things - as you can make a killing on it!

I think if pubs and clubs relied on one evening a month, they'd soon be out of business.

There are certain dates in the calendar that, to a large extent, take care of themselves. Valentine's Night is one of those nights.

At the very worst, without anything special put on, most places will do more business that night. Put something on and you can almost guarantee a bumper night.

Now, now. You should never let the facts get in the way of a little pretentious lecturing. ;)

Maybe also get some girls to dance on the bar table can be more wild then.

After all its a thread about ideas how to make such a night a success.

And hey who knows maybe after OP party it can even be franchised :)

It is easy for people in the OP's position to come up with ideas that could ruin someone elses business. People who take other people's businesses in their hands often lose sight that they are dealing with someone else's livelihood and even if the business goes bust then they will still be there wanting their invoice paid.

Businesses owners on the other hand should be more cautious and take care of their own business affairs more closely. In my business, I have had people offer to give my business a new look and do something new and mess about marketing etc, had people even apply to be a manager and said he was expert and though he was out of a job that was on a technicality but he specialised in overseas contracts so he is too good to be anything but managerial. He was told where to go. People start from the bottom and work their way up, learn the industry until they know it and if they already know it as they are experts work their way up after proving that they know it.

I certainly would not trust my business to someone who may be experimenting with it.

I misted a point in this thread, naughty school girls, is worng, it is lecherous. I had made the assumption it is naughty school girls and boys, which is something completely different. It's fun, silly and getting back to a more innocent time in life, supposedly. The girls will be more likely to dress up if they know the boys are too and vice versa.

A free drink for everyone in costume and a prize for the best dressed school boy and another for the best dressed school girl.

    Oh no no Mr Estwig,

A free drink for everyone seems rather generous - surely a bottle of milk and a straw should only be given to those who have passed means testing.

I had understood that this issue had been addresses by Margaret Thatcher adequately.

This is the point I was trying to make, a school themed fancy dress party is fine, but when you single out the "naughty school girls" and advertise it for just them it is wrong.

Oops, you appear to have posted this in the wrong thread.

You might think it's wrong. That doesn't make it so. It depends on the type of business the OP wants to be running. Some of those pubs do very well for themselves but I imagine it could be a death knell for his business if he isn't looking to go down that road.
