My Design Company. Name suggestions please if possible

Hi i have been browsing these forums for a while but have not registered. Anyway i hope someone can help :)

I am a graphic designer and would like to set up my own company and website to sell custom logos.

I need a company name. I need a name that says i am creative, professional and bespoke. The main competitors are logoworks.com logobee.com, logofactory.com

I will be specialising in bespoke logos and corporate id's etc

The domains that are available are:

www.logoaware.com

www.logoeffect.com

www.logosketch.com

Other domains include:

www.logoinvent.co.uk
www.logobuild.co.uk
www.logospawn.com
www.logosign.co.uk
www.logoflair.com
www.logostyle.co.uk
www.logoexpert.co.uk
www.logocreative.co.uk
www.logoart.co.uk
www.logoartist.co.uk
www.logovisual.co.uk

Out of these i personally like logoeffect and logosketch (it says i am an artist)

which ones out of the list do you like????

also does a .com name sound better than a .co.uk name???

Please respond with your suggestions on which name you like

Look forward to your response

Thanks
Mash

You could also think about building a brand or image. For example Ozzy has built his sites around the 'Quick' theme. You can then take this in many directions. Whilst a descriptive company name has benefits so does a memorable name. For example I always remember MadCowWeb designs and Eagle as they are names that I see around the forums.

Your business identity ought to be memorable, distinctive and simple. It should say something about your USP - but that does not mean it has to directly describe what you do, as generic descriptions are difficult to protect and too easily copied.

You should make sure the name is legally safe and protectable by getting a proper trade mark search with professional advice - just because the name can be registered as a domain name and at Companies House does not mean it is clear, as trade mark rights override everything else.

    Hi Mash,
I must say that none of the names are hitting out at me as particularily catchy - although logoflair is about the best agreeing with SillyJokes.
How about thing like Logos-2-Go, or CreativeLogos, or Logos WIth Flair and so on. Slightly longer names I know, but more descriptive and I feel roll better off the tounge (damn my spelling is bad today!)

    lastinglogos
    lingologo
    electriclogos
    damnfinelogos
    gologoloco
    logomotive

but you might be limiting yourself with logos - what if you change your business in the future to include other illustrations and design work?

so something with a wider scope

    imageflair
    imagetiger
    bobcatimages
    frascatiimages
    chocolateimages
    wintersceneimages

(I am thinking of my favourite things to see if they work)

    A few random suggestions:

    Name.................Domains Available
    Logoneer------------All
    Logonauts-----------All
    Logology------------.co.uk .info
    Logosmith-----------.co.uk .info .biz
    Logonetics-----------All except .com
    Logonation-----------.info .biz
    1stimpressions------.info
    Identicity------------All except .com
    Imagi-nation--------.co.uk .biz

All of these would need proper trade mark clearance searching before you would be safe to commit to any of them.

As I think Ozzy said, it is in fact not a good idea to air one's favourite idea in a public forum before putting in hand any steps needed to protect it. A better idea is to brainstorm privately amongst your family, friends, colleagues, other people who you can trust, and then draw up a short list for professional scrutiny. (A thesaurus can also aid the creative juices - or look at www.thesaurus.com.)

It also helps to draw up a process for creating, clearing and implementing any new identity - and don't assume that your first choice will be legally available. Some business areas, e.g pharmaceuticals, are very crowded and finding a new name can be more difficult as a result.

It's more complicated of course if the name has to work internationally amongst different languages and cultures - MR2 and GPT are problem names in France, NOVA in Spain, the words MIST and GIFT should be avoided in German, and the number 4 in the Far East.

I have been through a number of branding exercises; the most successful being the name FREELANDER which I happened to invent for Land Rover.

Call me if I can help further.
