Microphone trouble

Hi guys... general question, as I am stumped... All of a sudden none of my mircophones work on my laptop. The headset is fine, but the microphone won't pick up any sound. I have tried two different ones. Could this be a port problem, or a wrong setting somewhere? I'm not savvy enough to know where to start.

Hi Angel

Try going into the Sound section in the computer Control Panel, at the moment I am infront of a Mac and not a PC so can't be more specific but a look around there will certainly find something to do with microphones. Just make sure that its activated etc...

Or....I am sure someone else will be along to give you more specific instructions !!!

Also check the settings of the particular program you are using and make sure the microhphone is assigned/setup correctly.

tried both of those, and everything looks fine.

Or another silly one .... do you have a volume button on your keyboard?? Some of us have funny ones that do you see and forget about them sometimes!!

Yes, the volume setting is fine too. When I do a diagnostic, teh microphone is simply not registering. Could my port be 'loose' or something?
