Member of Staff Under Investigation

Hi,

For arguments sake lets say a Manager wanted to investigate me for some reason.

Does he have to let me know?

And whether I'm under investigation or not is he allowed to mention this in a general meeting when I'm not there?

Any help would be appreciated.
 
not enough info - what is your contract / what is the reasoning / what type of investigation / how mentioned & to whom etc.

e.g. a manager going onto google and checking a member of staff's facebook entries and finding that they were at a party when they claimed to be ill is one type of investigation

the process that follows before sacking them might be a second type of investigation...

I'm a permanant member of a large corporation. ISO 14001

A drivers meeting was called and in that meeting one of the drivers (a constant moaner) complained about me specifically. I'm not worried about the complaint as I can change should I need to (complaint was I talk too much).

It's the response the manager gave: He said don't worry, Mr. [My Name] is already under investigation.

That's where my concerns are lying.

My line manager spoke to him, he said no I'm not under investigation nor did he mention such. But I should be dealt with accordingly regarding me talking to the drivers.

I'm happy with that response. But I've never heard anything so stupid as to be spoken to for being pleasant.
