One of our leaseholders wants exercise their statutory rights to extend the lease on their flat.

We have agreed a figure for the extension so there is no need for us to serve a counter-notice

Can they use any solicitor to handle the extension or do we nominate someone?

Read this but it's not clear: https://www.lease-advice.org/advice-guide/lease-extension-getting-started/

Thanks but got the answer from my solicitor. Section 42 notice is all they need.

Just to confirm for the benefit of any other readers that the leaseholder is entirely free to choose their solicitor, and the landlord cannot impose their choice of solicitor on the leaseholder.
