    Hello everyone

    The page load is soo slow for a new client I started to work with today, the main suspect is a solid background colour which hangs before the website loads.

    In Joomla would this be in template settings in the HTML or would this be a simple setting elsewhere?

    There are warnings in GWT about page load time as well :(

    Many thanks
    - Nina

    Is the background an image, if so then it might have an impact on load times, if it's a coloured bg (with no image) then it shouldn't.

    It should be in the css under body tag, the css will be in the theme folder (I sent you how to access that previously).

    Right I have found it - I have Googled the hex number and it's the one #222.

    So I assume changing the block colour won't improve anything am I safe to remove this line of code in red?

    background-color:#222;
    /*ajust the top bar height*/
    height:30px;
    text-align:right;
    text-decoration:none;
    padding-top:5px;
    padding-right:5px;
    display:block;
    white-space:nowrap;

    That will just remove the background colour, for speed tests have a look at page speed, it will tell you what's wrong and how to fix

    I chatted to the client this morning and he thought the very dark grey background was gloomy and I suggested a white clean background, so will removing this code revert to a default white colour?

    These are the errors in site speed for the home page in GWT
    Your page has 6 blocking script resources and 5 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.
    None of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered without waiting for the following resources to load. Try to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML.

    I've not bothered to paste them as they are the same ones as below

    5 errors come up in Analytics

    Remove render-blocking JavaScript:
    ^^ This one is the naked domain - can you please explain when there is a 301 redirect to the www
    • http://www. domain .com /…tes/combit2011/js/jquery.bxslider.min.js
    • http://www. domain .com /…1/js/hslide/jquery.fractionslider.min.js
    • http://www. domain .com /…mplates/combit2011/js/jquery.slimmenu.js

    Would I need to recommend hiring a geek to sort this out?
