What web browser do you use? For Firefox follow next steps: 1. Start Mozilla Firefox browser or restart it if it is already running. 2. Select Tools > Options. 3. Dialog box: Options 4. Click Web Features > Select Enable Java

The fact that you have a stack trace indicates to me that your Java is working and is probably not the problem. It looks like the error is occurring when it is attempting to make a remote call. I think that your problem maybe in your security settings and/or computer firewall.

Go to :

Start > Run > Type in javacpl.cpl

The java console should load up.

Then click on "Network settings" in network settings make sure "Browser setting" is ticked. To update click on the update tab then click on update now (bottom right hand corner)

Check your firewall settings make sure you havn't blocked jucheck.exe or java

Let me know how you get on

Are you using a proxy server? You will need to check your internet settings.

Open IE, click Tools, Internet Options and the Connections Tab, and click the Lan Settings Button.

You should be able to see from here if you're using a proxy. Untick the proxy box, and try using java again.
