Is UK impacted by the newest european law about emailing (GDPR)

    2018 is the year where a new law is born : GDPR for General Data Protection Regulation

    Is UK impacted by this law about email optin ?

    Why do you think it wouldn't be? Brexit has not happened yet.

    UK always have special position (not using euro, ..)
    because of that fact I prefere ask :)

    Somewhat ironically, I keep getting unsolicited mail about GDPR that I can't seem to opt out of.

    We aren't leaving until at least March 2019, possibly much later. So anything that comes into effect before we leave.... presume to be applied.

    In any case GDPR spans not only across EU territory but applies to any company/business servicing/keeping any form of personal data of EU citizens. Hence even if brexit happens and UK are not part of the Eu if you have EU citizens as customers then you need to comply.

    As mentioned Brexit will have no impact. The UK Data Protection Bill is currently with the commons for implementation (requirement for GDPR on member states), Once this is passed it is UK law (replacing the DP Act 1998). So give it time and the consultants will be shouting about Data Protection Bill's rather than GDPR ;)
