Invest £100 in......

okay so was with a couple mates this evening and one of them asked a good question which got us all thinking...

"If you had only £100 to invest in something to sell quickly again for profit, what would it be?"

None of us had something come to mind straight away, but there was a few ideas thrown in...

Question is what would YOU do and how would you invest it?

Waiting for some interesting ideas

Well it wouldn't be an overnight gain, but if you wanted something that always went up in price above inflation each year, then the obvious contender has to be tobacco! (of course you'd need to be a non-smoker to benefit). Oh and possibly that yellow metal...

You could sell at £1.50 a can at least, even if they were advertised as ice cold, but were actually just in water they'd still sell

Good question. I'd start an alcoholic drinks company called 'Responsibly'. You get free advertising on the back of other alcoholic drinks when they're telling people to 'DRINK RESPONSIBLY'. Possible money spinner?

close to what I came up with!

I said buy different ice creams put them in a cooler box and sell on streets, beaches anywhere really there is good footfall!

If you had £100 in your pocket right now and wanted to go out and try double it what would you try folks????????

Not really, the difference above inflation will be tax and due to the g'ment. Also with further restrictions on the way you can display and advertise tobacco based products, it's not really a money spinning industry.

(unless of course you can smuggle a load in to the country and sell them on the sly without the HMRC and Customs finding out

Getting a copy of my extremely wealthy neighbour's front door key cut. Total cost - £3? I'm sure some kinds of people would pay rather a lot more than that for it off me though...

I would reg a domain name, buy some hosting , set up a wordpress, optimise it and slap adsense on it.

I spent 30 quid on a domain and hosting, it now makes about 100-200 quid a month in adsense clicks. Nice bit of beer money.

But you would have to know a bit about seo for that, but i leanred that on here for free.

Simple things like this should be simple but I would not be so confident. There is money to declare, licences, registering etc and probably a hygiene certificate, regulated hours etc.................

Nothing is simple anymore. There was a similar thread a short while ago of a bloke asking if he could sell ice creams from his front garden.

It is for the individual to risk if they take your advice or not but I would make checks and find out from local councils and such before going along with it. You may be right but you may be wrong and I think everyone should make relevant checks themselves.

After all, if you are wrong, councils vary from one to another, then you won't pay any fines for them!

I was at a town centre meeting last week. There was talk of putting bunting up for the jubilee. The council said they would not be doing it as it would need 500 forms, risk assessments and road closures. But if the shopkeepers wanted to throw some bunting from window to window they could.

"But what if someone gets hurt? Who will cover on insurance?"

FFS just put the bunting up! (yes that is what I said).

Ice cold beers to sell on a beach, on a very hot day! they would go like wildfire. You'd get a hefty fine if you got caught though

FFS just put the bunting up! (yes that is what I said).

And here we have a perfect example of council bearacracy and of course it is all so long winded because that is what keeps their jobs. We pay through the nose for nonesense and they earn holiday pay, bonuses and a fantastic pension for the privilage of peeing us all about.

The simplest of things that should be are made into pathetic complications as a result of red tape. And they wonder why the private sector don't want to employ them!!!

Not necessarily. If what you invested in only ever returned £100 profit a day that would not make you a millionaire.

I'd rather invest my £100 in high risk shares than that, I'd stand more chance of making a return on the shares.

Technically not- You'd need to use that money to live off, so it would take longer. If you have a job to bring in income that you live off, then you will probably have some left over, so it will take you less time
