Importing Rosewood and Teak wood furniture from India

Hi,

I plan to start a woodcraft business where I want to start importing premium hardwood like Rosewood and Teak wood furniture from India to UK. I know there are some restrictions in Rosewood imports specially brazilian rosewood according to last CITES convention . Things are not very clear, i.e does this apply to Indian Rosewood.
Can anyone in the forum guide me or point me to the right direction to where I can get further information to confirm if I can import Rosewood into UK and at the same time export it from India and also the process involved.

Forget it. The UK CITES office is in meltdown. I have one customer with a shipment that has been in customs for over 8 months waiting for a confirmation from the CITES office!

The UK music retail business has really suffered due to the CITES laws.
