Import/export documents

Hi, I am fairly new to importing and have made a couple of imports with one Chinese supplier. They provided me with a commercial invoice and packing list when asked, to enable my customs agent to arrange clearance in the UK.

I am currently importing a shipment from a second supplier. They do not have an export licence so the Chinese shipping agent used their own. I have asked this second supplier for commercial invoice and packing list and they have told me to contact the shipping agent.

Can anyone advise who is responsible for providing these documents in this situation?

Regards

Most of the time, CI&PL should provided by supplier(They're very simple documents), the second supplier should also provide them to the shipping agent. You can also ask the shipping agent, they'll be glad to provide to you I guess.

If the supplier has no exporter rights , then the agent company has the responsibility to send you all custom clearance information : commerical invoice , packing list ,bill of loading (B/L). Some countries also require sales contract , Form A ,etc

You can contact the seller for these custom clearance files , they will ask their agent company for these files and then send you .

Hope this helps

Many factory in CHina.they have no the export right they just can export by the export company in making the export document, such as the invoice and packing list and so on.

but in fact,.it's safe for the importer, because you just ask for the transport company is ok.

You need to ask the shipping agent for documents. Because in your situation, the goods were exported in the name of shipping agent in stead of your second supplier. That means all the shipping documents for custom clearance should be in the name of the shipping agent.
