I have a member of staff who started on 3/9/15, works 5 days per week and our holiday year runs from 1/1/15 - their entitlement is statutory 28 days (20 + 8 public holidays).
According to UK Gov website they are entitled to 9.2 days holiday which is 32.9% of 28 which sounds fine.
The problem is that the 28 days includes public holidays of which there are 8 in total and 2 between now and the end of the year which they must take.
Does this mean that their entitlement outside of the public holidays is actually 7.2 days (9.2 less the 2 outstanding days) or is it 3.8 days (9.2 less the same percentage of 8 days)? There is a hell of a difference in the two scenarios and I want to make sure I get this right!
My original thought was to entitle them to 32.9% of the 20 days and then add on the remaining 2 days but that arrives at 8.6 days which is different again!
