Alrighty There Fellow UKBFers!

I need some assistance please.

Up til now, I have been using a Beta version of MS Office 12. That has now expired, so I have just reinstalled MS Office 2000.

Great. Until I load Outlook.

I have two accounts - an O2 account, from which I receive my webmail, and an NTL account, for personal use.

I can't retrieve any of them.

When I press "Send and Recieve", it just takes ages, then times out.

I have three options in "Connection":
Connect using LAN
Connect using Phone line
Connect using IE or a 3rd party dialer.

It auto selected the IE option. I changed this to LAN, to no effect.

What am I doing wrong?

Please help!

Okay, the error number I'm getting is "0x800ccc19"
"0x800ccc19" is not black magic, it's just Outlook's rather unhelpful way of saying "I have a problem connecting to the mailserver(s) you have specified".

So 2 things to look at:-

Can your PC connect to the internet OK? On a simple level can you browse web pages? Can you ping the mailservers you are trying to connect to?

Is there something coming between Outlook and the internet? The reason we have asked about Antivirus is that is exactly how that works. Incoming email goes first to your Antivirus program, gets scanned, and then gets passed to Outlook. Re-installing Outlook could have disturbed the connections between one and the other, and a quick fix could be to reinstall your AV also, as this will re-establish the connections.

Okay, I sorted it. It was the stupidest problem. In the username box, I had my username, but without the @o2.co.uk. I put that in, hey presto. Emails came flooding in.

Thanks for all the suggestions though.
