We have added a few fourms on our site tradingmanchester.co.uk which include a travel forum, a football forum and a politics forum but we are not sure the best way to attract people to these forums. These are brand new on a high traffic website but what we are finding is, people are waiting for other people to post on the forums, so how do we get people to put a couple of post on there to get it started

    any advice would be great

In all honesty there seems to be WAY to many forums for my liking in there. Start with less and aim for more. Once it gets busy start expanding it a little. Keep it managed as well.

Forums are very difficult to get started as they suffer the usual problem of needing to appear successful to be successful. Many new forum owners resort to "seeding" the forum which can range from posting a few "hot topics" to paying people (there are some making careers out of it) to have discussions on the forums. It looks successful or gets someone's blood going so true posters post who then attract more etc etc.
