Has the snow damaged your business?

Snow's due to hit my part of Yorkshire tonight/tomorrow! I'm absolutely dreading it, last time it snowed, we were literally snowed in and everything came to a standstill! Local offie had no milk and daily supplies as the location meant no deliveries could be taken! It's already ruined my plans to travel this weekend

I'm ok with the business, as I work from a home office and don't rely on cars or public transport. Live close enough to the day job that I can walk home if it comes down while I'm there. Too many times getting stuck in London means I've arranged things so I won't get stuck again - though I know I'm lucky to be able to do that!

Nope - well not yet as I'm down sunny south.
However got a shoot planed outside on the 2nd I'm worried about.
Might have to think of something to film in the snow.
What about "Extreme Peeing" which could be a new sport to follow on from the ironing a few years ago? You have to write your name in the snow with pee-pee in an extreme way, viral hit that...

When it gets really cold you get a 'difficulty bonus' because it can be a struggle to find your 'peeing device'

You never know what to really do with the whole 'is it gonna snow' thing.
It snowed all of last night and laid across the roads and cars, so i thought today would be a quiet off day for everyone, by the morning it had completely cleared so you'd look like a right div if you'd cancelled work because of the snow.
Having said that, the town can look clear but when you get out on the moors its ridiculous how fast it can lay. I remember travelling down the road last year, 25 minute journey, went to get some things from the shop, on the way back it started to snow..by the time i got home the car was sliding all over the place and a van had slid in to some bushes near one of the farms.
I'm pretty much delaying any distance meetings for now, until after xmas, the weathers really unpredictable at the moment.

The Sandwich shops normally go a little quiet - although today was a decent day. We'll find out tonight if the Chip shop has been affected much, as it didn't snow in that part of Newcastle last night.
I'd prefer the snow come now instead of Jan/Feb when people really tighten the purse strings - last years snow fall, coupled with Jan/Feb blues give me a few nightmares!

I own part of our family firm Nexday Overnite Ltd which is part of APC Overnight.
Last year was terrible to say the least being a courier firm! One of the days we couldnt get the trunk vehicle to our yard. We couldnt off load the trunk as the forklift was getting stuck. Drivers couldnt get in. Office staff couldnt get in.
It was really bad obviously and I think on one or two days we couldn't deliver at all. The days surrounding we were running around after our drivers as they had become stuck.
We decided to prioritise business addresses as these were on the whole the most easily accessible, we also made sure all the timed deliveries were delivered by managment (if they could fit) into a 4x4. We kept our doors open to anyone wanting to collect (if they could). It was a bad time!
However because we kept coming in even though ourselves and other depots were unable to deliver at times I believe we if anything bettered our reputation. A lot of customers of my depot Bolton & Wigan were ringing to speak to me especially to say how good they reckoned we were because we were keeping each one of them continually updated. I also was out till 11pm on three nights delivering parcels which were clearly toys for Christmas and the shocked/happy faces were worth it!
.......I'm not saying I want the same scenario this year though! The days of me liking snow went out the window last year!

Well after starting this tongue in cheek thread, I'm ashamed to say it's seriously looking like I won't be making it in to the office tomorrow!
Shameful as I grew up in the Dales and now live in Stamford, Cambs... But no stretch of ambition will give my car the abilty to go down the hill leaving our estate. Not without crashing and looking like a tit.
Erm... I'm stuck again.
