There used to be a button on google to disable web history based on search....where is this now?
Been working on our site and it is now appearing much higher up google than possible......which I think is due to the search based on historical search data...except I dont see anywhere now to switch this off.

It helps a lot if you clear your history otherwise google will confusingly rank you higher than you may actually be.

do a search, click on web history on top right of page, sign into your google account then clear

This is one of the reasons I use search position tools to find out rankings. Google "search position checker" to find some

After a result in Google Search at top right you may see "Web History" click it and make sure it says "Customization based on signed-out search activity is disabled."
