Hi Everyone,

We need to replace 5x 8-10 year old desktop pc's we use on the shop floor with some new bog standard PC's - really don't need to be anything special, just capable of Internet stuff & Open Office basic stuff and be reliable.

Cheapest I've found so far is the Dell Vostro 260MT at £129 ex vat but ideally am looking to source for <£200 - Dell also wanted a whopping £120 ex vat for delivery(my yorkshire blood said "no way" at that one :)) and they didn't seem interested in doing a deal for 5 units.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good supplier or do you reckon I'm asking too much for the money? We don't at this point have the facility to go the thin client route.

Scan & PCBW I've already checked and they were around £239 ex vat starting price...

Doesn't look like we can do the pricing you are looking for. The problem is we can only support pretty new technology as we cannot be recommending hardware that will be considered slow straight away (which at this price they would be to our customers.)

Good luck in finding a suitable source.

I suggest you take a look at Dell Outlet. The prices on there fluctuate every day, often there being many bargains.

I recently purchased a laptop off there that was noted as 'Scratch and Dent', however it was not damaged at all. I beleve it is a gamble if you purchase 'Scratch and Dent' though and you should most probably stick to 'Certified refurbished'.

I agree to speak with a Dell advisor, we used to get some very good deals from them if we bought 5+ machines. It really does depend on when you are asking and what deals they have available.

Another place worth looking for some good deals is Ebuyer. They have a pretty good spec dual core machine, with 4 GB ram and 1 TB hard drive for £189.99 including VAT and delivery. Only thing is there is no operating system installed as standard.

Hope that helps!

Cheers

I have used Morgan Computers - they always have some good deals.

My last PC was bought from Apex PC's via ebay - they built something to my spec for great value! They had some great low cost systems.

BYW, ebay, generally would be a good place!
