Hi! I will appreciate any isight on this matter..

I have a business which provides translations/proofreading services for students and I would like to target university students. Best way would be leaving flyers at student accommodation/halls of residence but apparently it is not legal to just enter such building and flyer there.

Does anyone have an idea how I could still leave flyers/posters there? How do I get such a permission? How and who do I contact? Not sure if universities would be happy about students using proofreading services either..

Thank you in advance!!

Of course not! You are talking about entering a private property to advertise your services, without permission. That's like someone entering your house, or business, to put flyers up on the walls without checking with you first.

As someone who used to provide transcription services to researchers at universities, I would say, unless your rates are very low, it is unlikely a student will be able to afford you. Remember, most students have to work just to live and pay the fees, they cannot afford to pay someone else to do their proof-reading. Besides, there is likely to be many students doing English language or literature, etc., who will offer proof-reading as a sideline; and foreign students offering translation, both for peanuts.

Universities are becoming much more strict on students doing all the work themselves, and often third party services (like my typing service) have to be university approved.

Your best bet would be finding the details of each university's student union and seeing if they can give advice or if they have a newsletter that you could advertise in.
