Feedback please

Hello people,

Im looking for a little feedback, here goes.

Im on the verge of setting up a company with a friend for people to outsoruce there telemarketing to drum up new business B2B, what ever the industry they target.

I work as a sales manager at the moment and do alot of cold calling B2B, and when i speak to senior people within a company, they always complain about there sales staff being lazy and scared to cold call, and wish they was like myself, or even offer me a job to work for them! which got me thinking of setting up this type of business

If you own your own business would you pay someone like myself to generate a Hot lead?, or even close the deal?

hyperthetically speakng,

If you was a web designers, would you pay me £100 if i got someone wanting a website for you to build, or a frieght company wanting to use your services?

Im confident in myself that this will work, and have partner that is equally up for he idea.

Whats your thoughts?

-Ramon

Not if you sent your proposition to me in writing, to be honest, based upon the standard of your original post.

That aside - I might (under the right circumstances etc) pay someone - would it be someone like yourself? I have no idea as I know nothing about you.

Sorry it wasnt a proportion, and my grammer isnt 100%.

Just wanted feedback of would you outsource?

Sounds like a good idea as I know a lot of people that who could use that kind of service. The amount you charge should depend on the amount of the invoice/typical payment for the type of lead generated. Most companies budget an amount on every invoice to cover their 'advertising' so maybe look at 2-5% of the invoice as a starting point perhaps.

I included that feedback within my reply. I would also reiterate that, if you are thinking of approaching other businesses, it is important to address any grammar or spelling issues involved as I am sure you wish to appear to be as professional as I am sure you are.

Where are you based? Overseas?

You asked for my feedback - I gave it to you. Now, if you had stated in your OP that you were using a mobile, the 'standard' of written communication may have meant less to me than the message - however, I went with what I saw and won't apologise for that.

Alice once again thanks for your imput, i was looking for feedback as a business model, and not my grammer.

Ok how about this, PM ur website il see what you guys do, and me and my partner will do some introductions for your company.

Free of charge of course, then if the leads generate to sales pay me how you feel, as this would help me out seeing if my above business model would be effective.

Let me know what you want selling.

We both have nothing to loose other than gain something from it.

*Edit i also have alot of business contacts that i could speak to on good terms to sell to*

The above exchange is a great illustration as to how people can network on this forum, help each other out and benefit at the same time.

However, I would exercise caution in this instance - Desticado, I think you have other priorities to consider at this time. What if Ramon delivers what he promises? Are you in a position, at this stage, to deliver?

Just a consideration, and I know it's very hard when you are trying everything to look after your business whilst it goes through a bad patch, but I would hold back just a little.

Oh, and you can take on board what I say or 'ignore' me - doesn't make any difference to me and at the very least I contribute more than a personal insult! :)

Believe it or not, if I reference the way in which text is written it's because I am thinking about how others would react if it were presented to them - i.e. helping you in your business. If I ask for clarification, it is so I can actually make a comment based in fact rather than an off the cuff emotional response. blah blah blah.

I would love for the two of you to get together and make a success of things. I would caution Desticado given his circumstances not to over expose himself to potential commitments he may not be able to honour.

Can I just say I agree with Ann.I am constantly bombarded with calls and emails from 'out sourced' call centres.Majority are overseas and I can't tell you how annoying it is when they cannot grasp the english language.
On a B2B basis I would expect very high standards of grammar and correct pronounciation over the telephone also.
I suggest next time you mention you are on your mobile though.
Expensive way to talk though?

Networking is key in life.
Dont think either of us are looking to 'hop into bed' with each other.
But I figure a couple of hours work on both our parts wont do any harm.

Ramon, is part of your intention for your clients to produce a script to show them prior to calls? How do you intend to decern your script/patter for the client? Telephone interview, website/brochure summary?

Im happy to offer a little guidance for what its worth (I have an academic business background) and feedback on the process as well as what it feels like as your client. You need to go away and think about what it is your offering and guide me though it as though I was your client since that is what you want to test and is far more important for you to go through than the actual call making. Im happy to provide inciteful feedback on it as well as offer some critique on your telemarketing. I can also arrange for you to do a couple of test calls on my behalf if we go forward with a friend of mine that used to be head of marketing/sales for a BIG highstreet bank.

Im welsh, and i speak From CEOs to Cleaners in massive companies to small companies.

I hate oldschool sales people who sound like Lloyd grossman, people buy me before they buy the product/service as i talk at a personal level where descion makers like to listen to me. yes sometimes they will put the phone down, which i wouldnt blame them, if i just had to deal with 3 cold callers from india, then this welsh guys calling them ;)

And i have never had a complaint, and i have taken on over 1300 new accounts at my current company, with a 87% retention rate.

I don't think anyone suggested a 'hopping into bed with each other scenario'.

I did say, and stand by, that it was great how people on this forum come together. I think that your comments, Desticado, are valid and helpful regarding Ramon's objective.
However, I still stand by my earlier comments - 'true' feedback isn't always what one asks for ;), but can be valid nonetheless. I don't believe I was overly critical of the business, the business model or the owner of the business. If my comments where perceived that way - tough!! :D:D That's what business is about sometimes...ask for feedback when you can take it!

Good luck to the pair of you. I hope things go well and that you can help each other out - networking at its best!! :)

I never mentioned India actually.I prefer to talk to someone with a local accent to be quite honest. In fact I don't like call centres full stop.
I hate being put on hold
I hate the dreadful music they play
I hate the way they charge you for the call
Oh and how you have always come through to the wrong person/department.
If I am ringing the bank I would prefer to get through to the local branch.
I have had a bad experience this week with a certain company bombarding me with telephone calls trying to get me to buy a service I have told them I do not want. I have no idea where his accent was from, but he obviously couldn't grasp english when I said NO yesterday as he rang me agian today to ask if I had had enough time to sleep onmy decision arrghh!
To top it all he was ringing me on my freephone number so I was being charged for the call.
Rant over :D

I wouldnt say a script, but a helpfull pitch would be usefull from a client, obviously because you have the best knowledge on features and benefits of your products/services. so i think a telephone interview would be best where the client would tell me how he would sell it, then i could perfect it.

Thats all really,

Its illigal to contact a company without permission if you join the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) free
Call centers scan all there prospects daily to see if they are registered, as if they are contacted the company can be sued up to 30k.

Or im not advising it, but i did know a guy once who bought a premium number, and put a long VM on the end, and the receptionist gave it to all sales people who called, and said it was the MD direct line, he made about £400 a year from it.
