I wonder if 24000 people liked my page but werent targetted - maybe at some point they may want my products.

Im sure if 10,000 people were sent to my website at least a few of them would be interested in my products

probably...at some point..they might want to buy something.

But why not target a smaller and more select audience that you can virtually guarantee want to buy something? << thats what SEO and such is all about.

Sod being top of Google for generic phrases, you want people that are looking to buy.

    Take a look at http://www.facebook.com/bargainmania.co.uk?sk=app_202432846464272

That is a Zencart site actually on facebook. People who purchase from it are actually buying through facebook off of the website.
    Saves alot of mucking about

    How much does that cost?

    And how do people pay?

It is a very good deal, Cost all in to redo your site in zencart with all the modules etc included and Facebook shop will be £180

I think it's a natural progression and a great idea Alastair. How easy is it to update with new products and pricing?

You could drop it straight in as it is to give youself an idea of how it works.

It would have horizontal scrollbars and not look very good, but at least you will see how it works

Ok, I should have known better. Older but definitely not the wiser.

I decided to trial Bargainmedia's Facebook fans system with the proviso the fans are targeted - UK single parents.

    We've got fans from:
    Barcelona
    Germany
    Pakistan
    Illinois
    Greece
    Florida
    ...amongst other places.

Many of the fans have very few followers. Some are just kids themselves. Others' interests are mainly gaming type stuff, certainly nothing vaguely close to our target.

I'd be highly surprised if anyone got any interaction from any of the fans, with the best will in the world, "Paypal Latino", based in Florida is not interested in chatting about a single parent camping weekend in the Peak District (unlike our other fans).

If you're simply looking for numbers then fine, if you want to use FB to build a community (which we have been doing), then I'd stick to the well worn (and slightly laboursome) path of interacting with similar communities.
