Hi guys, So we've got a new website on the way and i'm looking for tips on the best ways to advertise it on Facebook.
We have a business page with a decent following at the mo and i've been drawing up some images using Photoshop to post on the page, but just looking for other tips and advice really.

Thanks in advance

Good morning Alex.

Congrats on the new site! With new SEO and a new site that should really help grow your business.

As you have mentioned, Facebook can be a good way to increase your brand's awareness and also pick up sales here and there. The best thing to do is to post content frequently that your target audience will find interesting, engaging and relevant. Share blogs, photos, offers and promos.

Aside from social media, there are many things you can look at in terms of increasing your brand awareness and also increasing your leads/ sales.

Email marketing works well and also some digital marketing such as other social media (Twitter, Pinterest etc), SEO (including forum commenting, backlinks, meta-tagging etc) and Pay Per Click/ remarketing.

You could also look at making sure you are in/on all directories both on and offline (think Yellow pages, G+, Foursquare and so on).

Good luck from the whole BoxChilli digital marketing agency team!

Hi Alex,

We have found quite a lot of success with the use of short subtitled video content with a strong message. For social, subtitling is key unless the on screen content is fully self-explanatory as 85% of video on Facebook is watched without sound.

Also with your designed images, try your best to abide by the content in images rules. As breaking them means a far reduced delivery rate when sponsoring posts and costs you more in the long run.

Video content fares better in engagement that other mediums,

You could also opt for paid targetting advertising, given that facebook know a lot about their users you could target your advertising with near laser precision. (all car owners aged 20-30, male, live in x area only) the list of options is interesting in it's own right.

You keep saying this and I'm sure there are occasions when it can work but if you are selling bags of cement I doubt a video advert is going to help.

Can you give an example? All the evidence I've seen (and there is a lot of it) suggests B2B adverts on facebook are far less effective than other channels. There will of course be exceptions but you can lose a lot of money finding out if it doesn't work for you.

Hi - I have case studies over on my site, but I'm not able to post links to it as I'm too new a member. But you could check out my profile and you might get to it from there.
Also, I was at Social Media Marketing World in San Diego in March, that is the #1 social media conference in the world, and the buzz this year was all about how ALL businesses are killing it with FB ads... the targeting abilities are endless.

Hard to believe some still question the value of video marketing.

Due to the changes in  Facebook algorithms you will find it hard to attract organic views. In simple terms the more engagement your post gets the more impressions Facebook will give you.

If you are serous about growing your business on Facebook then you need to put some money towards Facebook ads or create viral content.

The last option I have for you is market your page and content through relevant Facebook Groups. However, this is not that easy, and requires a lot of hard work. If you don't do it correctly then you will get blocked from the groups and potentially Facebook.

I was being flippant. The post assumed prior knowledge - something the OP may not have (considering their question).

I would definitely agree that at the moment, the way to promote yourself on Facebook is paid ads. That's not to say that it's the best method of marketing, but it's certainly a good option for many businesses - especially as Maryrose says, the targeting options are pretty phenomenal if you know your audience.

Even with thousands of likes, Facebook has hugely reduced the 'reach' your normal posts get. That is to say, they used to show your post to all your "likers" but these days you're lucky to reach 20% of them.

I would completely agree that Facebook does favour video at the moment, especially Facebook Live, but it might depend if it makes sense for your business.

If I'm correct in understanding you sell discounted furniture, you could possibly do videos of the showroom?

Or even some footage of how you're helping the local community as a non-profit? The right kind of video could do really well for you locally; you could even target just your geographical area and make it super relevant. Maybe something like this video, which is really focussing on a cause: https://www.buzzfeed.com/nylawissa/...supplies-for-t?utm_term=.pe7R2Y6y1#.fd4nLqA8p

I hope that's helpful :)

Create some interesting content post 1-2 times per day (several hours apart) . See which posts your audience responded to (likes, loves, comments) and then put a few quid behind the top performing ones to promote to a targeted audience for a few days to see how it performs.
