For a company renting equipment for short term rental. Who do you feel should be responsible to ensure all the rented items are correctly dispatched to the rental company on the day of return
The customer hiring the goods or the rental company taking responsibility to ensure all the goods have left the venue ?

Depends entirely on the nature of the contract.

    It does indeed.

The rental company organising return would be a value added service. Some customers might be happy to pay for that.

Are you talking about a chain saw/hand sander or a bouncy castle/full size merry go round?

If it is something the client collects I would assume that they are responsible for returning it. If it is something that requires special delivery/assembly/instruction by the supplier then they would collect.
