Ebay headache

Everyone knows the weather is bad right! Im getting an earache from 1 customer at the moment because her parcel has not turned up yet.

I have gone other the top with this and provided tracking info etc which proves it was sent 2 days ago on nextday delivery.

Now shes saying blah blah I payed for next day delivery where is it if it does not show today I want my money back etc.

Only problem is its costs me £12 to send it out and will cost another £12 to get it sent back to me.

Another problem I have is a customer won an auction I sent it out without first getting payment and still no sign of the cheque this was over a week ago now.

What steps can I take to reclaiming the money?

Sometimes you will always get snotty customers who just don't see reason, however if she insists on not wanting the item and her money back i think theres sweet fa you can do about it - however you could pass this to the couriers and tell them you want it back and don't expect to be charged - just try it ona bit. Did they forewarn you they may not be able to meet delivery and vice versa you with your customer?

As for the lady who hasnt paid, send her a polite email stating if you haven't had payment within the next 24 hours by bank transfer/paypal or whatever then you will be arriving at the place of delivery to collect the item. If she geniunely has sent the cheque she can always cancel it. and dont do it again!!!

Mate, I'm waiting for about 5 things from eBay that I odered last week, some small, some big! I'm not too worried yet as they are Xmas pressies.

But I think your customer HAS to realise that there is nothing you can do about it! Some eBay buyers are just so unreasonable.

I'm waiting for a parcel from HDNL that should have been delivered on 30th Nov. Not eBay though.

We lose postage costs unfairly at least once a day! There is often nothing you can do, the DSR's are loaded in the customers favour (public interest they call it!).

I would say that part of distance selling these days is accepting these sorts of costs, and budgeting for them. I guess it's a real dissapointment for anyone selling on a small scale, or very very low margin. But it's a business reality nonetheless.

Sending an item before getting paid is a very bad move indeed, what is the buyers feedback rating?
As for the people moaning about the late post, they need to get a grip and accept that there's nothing you can do about it, I've sold a few bits on ebay this week and have emailed all buyers saying that their packages may be slightly delayed due to the weather and they have all beeon ok about it "fortunately" but there's always one moaner :D

we do accept paypal.

I sent it out by mistake without checking it was paid for. If I have to go down to the address and knock on the door I will. No one rips me off.

there phone number on account does not work.

I will threaten with calling the poilce and reporting to ebay first! (I know the police wont do anything!)

The police will do something! An ex employee of ours at the private ambulance service, sold a stab vest and was paid by cheque, she sent the vest out before the cheque cleared and it bounced! She contacted our local police station who in turn contacted the buyers local constabulary and the guy was arrested. She left while the case was ongoing so unfortunately I don't know the outcome, although I can say that the CPS (crown prosecution service) gave the go ahead to press charges of theft by deception I think it was in the end, but I might be wrong on that part.
