CTPS / TPS - Does anyone care?

Simply put anyone making unsolicited sales calls to phone numbers which have previously registered with the corporate telephone preferance service potentially can be fines £5000.00.

However, I do not see the information commisioners office being effective at stopping this and I believe the rast majority of companies choose to ignor this regulation and call numbers whether they are on the list or not.

It would be great to hear what people think.

For my part I am a square. I cheak my data every 28 days and remove all those that I am unable to call due to them being on the list and where I have not previous relationship.

I get very annoyed when people don't take notice of this. It's one of my pet peeves!

Slightly aside, I get probably 5 phonecalls a week from the "start up business show" during their sales season - EACH time i tell them i do not want to be contacted again, each time they tell me that each salesperson has their own individual database and they can't guarantee that someone else will not call me and EACH time I tell them, I'm asking for your business to not call me, not you, your business. Remove me. Never works. I've even complained to their director.

I'm on the verge of reporting them. TBH, even i wasn't annoyed by it, I'd be put of by the desperation of the sales team - the show can't be doing very well!

Sorry rant over....

That's a new one on me, saying that each salesperson has their own database :| What a load of cobblers and if a company cannot monitor and control it's own workforce then they do need to be given a wide berth.

That is an outright lie and that is one thing that makes me furious more than anything else. A salesman rang me last week and the very first thing he uttered was a lie. He said "Our records show that . . . . . " which was about endowment policies which he said I currently had. I haven't have any form of endowment for over 30 years, yet this clown continued with a script which was entirely false. The second word I said to him was "off".

In my opinion, cold calls like unsolicited emails makes you unprofessional. It is time and money waisted.

Actually, it takes time to close a sale, you should first build relationship with the prospect, through social medias, conversations, etc...
Study your prospect, know what he or she wants, help them but never sale!

I am registered with TPS and sales calls are still a real problem. It's not so much the time the calls take but the break in concentration.

Someone rang trying to sell advertising for a doctors' surgery yesterday. The last time it happened I had three calls in two days I rang the surgery then and asked them to desist. I rang yesterday and the manager said she had better things to do than mess about dealing with complaints about unsolicted calls and I was to stop wasting her time.

I have sent in a report to TPS. It will be interesting to see what happens

I used to work for a telemarketing company who had CTPS registered their phone number and got a cold call from a B2B data seller banging on about all their data was tps and ctps cleaned.
er..........so either you didnt clean your own data or you just ignored the fact this number is registered, either way I wont be buying your data.

what a numpty
