Computer remote access problems.

Earlier this evening I set up a remote access connection with a friend, and it worked fine.

Every time we try to do the same again, I keep getting the message
A referral was retuned from the server.

How do we sort this out (what does it actually mean).

I cannot think it matters, (as it worked fine the first time) but we have two different operating systems XP and Vista - is that causing the problem.:|
