Thanks Paul, Certainly working on that premise. Also trying to get refers to think about 2nd and 3rd income streams for themselves as well.

Totally agree, especially if (like in our case) clients are signed on a recurring basis so each year the refer gets some income with zero effort.

I am Ekene, I live in Watford, Hertfordshire.

I have spend most of my working life in Banking, working for US Banking and Asset Management institutions. I also consulted for major UK and European Bank. Now, I'm starting out as a rookie business owner. I thought I should come to a forum like this to listen to veteran business owners and make my little contribution to others.

I would let the forum know more about my business in the coming weeks, hope this is acceptable.

    Thank you all.

    Hi all,

I'm Ben and I'm a freelance SEO consultant based in Kent.

I specialise in on-site SEO; developing a solid foundation for future organic growth. I tend not to advertise monthly contracts, as in most cases, it isn't necessary. What I do is put all the groundwork in, so that for the long-term your business has something solid to build upon itself.

Alternatively, you can hire me on an ad-hoc basis to refresh your site, develop new content or just to make sure that everything is doing as well as it can.

I plan on sticking around here to not only offer advice on SEO, but also to learn!

    Hi Everyone
I've come back to UKBF after a long time away.
I own and run a Health & Safety Training Company covering B2B in Kent and formed in 2007.
Initially this was part time while I was still serving in the Aviation Fire Service, but since reduncancy was forced upon me early last year, I have been working hard to raise the business profile as it is now my only income.
So hi to everyone that takes the time to read this ..... and if I may, I'd like to ask a question.
I am about to embark in investing in providing an e learning element to the business which will will offer a wider choice of training online for my new and existing clients.
    My question is ....
Are you a training company and do you offer this service and if so what has the take up been like.
    Secondly
As a business owner would you use an online training courses in preference to a trainer visiting your place of work to run a course for your staff.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to post a reply.

    Hello to all!
My name is Bartholomew Hearn, but I often prefer to use the nickname FLAT PACK BART. As you might guess, I work as an IKEA assembly service provider with a small to medium sized London company - Fantastic Furniture Assembly. As a Ikea assembler I am fully trained and experienced with most major flat pack furniture providers, such as Argos, John Lewis, Furniture 123, Mamas & Papas and etc.
I am not really good when it comes down to law issues, marketing or any online sells and I hope UKbusinessforum will help me grow my knowledge.
Thank you for having me here!

    Hey everyone,

My name is Claus. I'm based in Wimbledon. I lived in America for 5 years and am from Germany originally.
I’ve just started a small business blog. I’ve also co-founded Design Dorado which liberates entrepreneurs and small business owners from boring and tedious graphic design tasks, and CMS Assist which provides website maintenance services.

    Hi,

My name is Mark and I work at Beyond Local in Kent. We are a Digital Agency who work in partnership with Small Businesses to help them understand how they can use the internet to grow their business. We show how everything that is done online can be measured so that businesses can monitor the ROI on their marketing activity.

We are also actively promoting apprenticeships. We believe that young people learn best by doing and that apprenticeships can offer a great way to learn for young web developers, graphic designers and social media marketers.

We have joined the forum to meet other local entrepreneurs and learn more about the issues that concern small business owners in the UK.

Hello everyone, may I introduce myself? I'm Karl Greenwood, I train horses to perform in stunt shows and filming & photoshoots. My shows are clean and meticulous and they're geniunely good. My ethic is to be to equine stunt shows as Cirque du Soleil was to circus. I can't help but to put quality first, second and third, which of course sends my expenses soaring. My shows go out to County shows, Castles and the like. In order to keep my horses as I want, (well), I also teach horseback archery as a sport. My stables are immaculate, the horses are clean and well trained and the courses I teach are unsurpassed. Our reviews are all fantastic. Growing the business and building on our reputation are now the priority, I truly believe that if the quality is there the correct price can be got. It's a long way round though!
Next on my agenda is the corporate world - I am based on a beautiful estate near London, and it would be very easy to hold banquets here. I could have beautiful food, stunning location, and great entertainment & show. Not for me the cheap and crap - that's already out there. My experience of corporate Britain is next to nothing though, and that's what I hope to find by these forums, some idea of how to set about it. And I hope, lots of ideas that I haven't thought of to get more students and shows! In turn, what I have to offer, ....................... anyone need a warhorse and knight in the office?

    Hello!
I'm Lior. I'm a designer based in London.

There's a new design discipline called service design. You know AirBnb and Uber? They were started by service designers. Places like IBM and government and big charities like Citizens Advice are hiring service designers as fast as they can... yet not many people know about it.

So, I run a festival called the service design fringe festival, to raise awareness of what it is. I started it in 2014 and it's snowballed! I didn't intend to start a business, but Seoul Business School and a university in Milan have recently got in touch because they want to run it over there too.

I'm looking for business support for international growth strategies. I'm not au fait with business speak, and I'd really appreciate all the support I can get.

Looking forward to getting to know you!
    Lior

PS all the events in London are free every September, and it's really useful stuff. Give 'service design fringe festival' a google.
