A 3rd party company has gone into liquidation and an liquidator has been appointed.

I want to buy their web domain eg. the web address (not the content on the website).

If i approach the liquidator and say i want to purchase the domain, will they be able to sell it to me ? Or dose it have to go through an auction process ?

But be prepared for a possible raft of excuses from the liquidator as to why they can't sell it to you.

@Blaby Loyal why would they prevaricate ? I thought their sole purpose is to liquidate the assets.

@Lisa Thomas Do you know on what basis they may price the domain, its pretty much an intangible item price wise. Where as some domains like gambling.com will go for 7 figures, things like jimswestcountrybouncycastles.co.uk (made up domain name) basically will have no interest and usually are just left to expire once their yearly domain reg fee runs out.

Do you know if the current owners of the domain name are interested in buying it as competition will increase it's value

Their valuation should be based on whatever their agent advises...

    ...Sorry that is not useful!

It may be listed in the Statement of Affairs, which may have been lodged at Companies House - see here:

If the current owner of the company is buying other assets from the company into another company don't be surprised if you don't get the domain name when they package it all up together with everything else.
