Really like to know how you think business websites will change in the next 10 years.

I think that the desktop pc will fade away and hand held pc will be the future

I think that the content will reduce on a site as we find we have less time to view sites

I doubt this'll happen. People have worked at desks for centuries and there's no reason why this would change in the next few decades.

I think however, you have to watch the market trend, that more and more people check things like email on their blackberrys and pdas/XDA's etc. So if you are email marketing to your subscribers, you need to bare this i mind, as a big filed html email from you will not get read as it will take to long to down load. People are using these devices to save time, so they will not wait.

I don't think the desk top will fade away, but mobile technology, and on demand technology will flourish in the next 5 years.

More laptops will be sold, as they are multi purpose. They will get smaller and more powerful. More places will have centrino technology so when you are out and about you can get online, whereever you are.

Mobile technology, like 3G will explode in the next 2 years. As soon as the price starts to drop a bit.

I might be wrong, ut just my analysis of where we are, and where we might be soon

Yep I think on the contrary, things will get bigger, better and faster.

Flash or an equivalent will take over the world and everything will be completely interactive.

Yes, interactivity is the future! Everything will move to the web, from tv to your house alarm!

Boundaries between platform and browser will break down, with desktop apps will moving to the web, and under the control of their creators.

People won't be able to live without it!

I find it all very exciting as you can probably tell.

In Japan, it is now huge the whole pay with your mobile phone function. You use your phone like a credit card!! Enter your number and pin, and the purchase shows up on your bill, or is taken straight from your credit if your are pay as you go!!!

So much money has been invested in 3G they need to start making it back, I think gaming is going to play a pretty big part in that. Then we'll see money move to the phone across the world, then interactive tv, and then orange will take over the world and rename Wednesday, Orange Wednesday. Puh how stupid :roll:

I have a vodafone 3G wireles connecter for my laptop. And at £2 a MB dowload it wouldn't take them long to make all their money back in one afternoon!!!

you will always be able to fit more power into a desktop PC than a pda and it will probably always be cheaper to do so. So desktop PCs are not going anywhere. Unless someone designs a pda with a fold out executive chair and 21inch monitor?

I agree that there will certainly be an increase in PDA type devices but do not think that they will be replacing desktops/ laptops within the next 10 years - personally cant see reviewing a 500 milestone MS Project plan on a 3" screen as being practical - it is almost impractical on my 17" screen at my desk.

I would wonder if however laptop/ docking station/ screen/ keyboard/ mouse etc will become a more popular setup "at home" than the traditional desktop. Certainly with my employers almost everyone other than call centre staff/ mail handlers now have this instead of a desktop.

Personally I would more see an increase in bandwidth for mobile devices rather than a reduction in website content happening. People may make sites cleaner and the "3 click rule" may be reduced to a smaller number to assist these people but given the desktop (in some form) is here to stay in my opinion then not all sites will want to exclusively appeal to PDA users as others will want to harness the options of multimedia or content rich sites.

Can certainly see the move to internet based applications. Some companies will need to be convinced of the security of data though - our employers wont allow any form of VPN so we are all reduced to 56k dialup.
