Hi All,

I've been thinking about this for weeks, and working on it for days (on and off)...

I either get straight to the brick wall of "blank page", or come up with more ideas than I can do justice to in 10 minutes... I've got lots of threads that I can't seem to pull together!:|

I'm thinking of "winging" it on a Q&A with some background notes - bad idea d'you reckon? (Bearing in mind this is the main "sales point" for the annual sub!)

'Winging it' depends on what you're like thinking on your feet. If you're good at it, then that's cool. If not, it's probably a mistake.

Personally I am ok thinking on my feet, so with background notes, I'd probably be ok. That said, when first ever invited to be a best man, I was bricking it and found writing, preparing, reading and re-reading to be the best way.

All now depends when it is...

    Regards

    Mike

Usually the ten minutes gives you the chance to tell the other members a bit more about what you do, 9 more minutes than the weekly 60 seconds.

Its a chance for the other members of the chapter to get a better feel of what you do in order they can get you more quality referrals.

Try talking for eight and taking questions for two.

You should start with something like

"Now I am here I really still cannot think about what to say and have been banging my head against a brick wall for the last week trying to think of what should be said. So I wanted to use a slightly different tact and ask you what is important in credit control for your business?"

Or something to that degree if you feel that you are able to answer their questions using the reverse and countering with why they should use you maybe.

I think this could work as you are not just hammering stuff out about your business and how great it is but you are helping them answer questions relevant to what you do positioning you as an expert in the field.

I think this type of presentation works better

    Just my 2p

start your presentation with a little bit of rubbish juggling and then when you have dropped all your balls say this....

"That wasn't very clever.....but this is...."

and then give them your best business anecdote where you are at you cleverest (or you add greatest vale) on credit control. and then go on to explain that you add great value by being clever at credit control in many many ways etc
