Best time for follow-up phone call?

When is the best time of the day to make a telephone call, that is following up a company letter of introduction?

I personally prefer receiving calls after 10am but before midday or after 2pm but before 4pm. That way you dont catch me at lunch or as I am dealing with the early morning urgent/ wrapping up urgent items.

For me, I like to make follow up calls first thing AM, ie 9. For people who are really hard to reach I make a list and call them between 7.30 am and 9am. It's amazing who you can reach before the receptinist arrives. People seem to be more willing to talk at this time as they havn't yet started the day's business.

Tsh, talk for yourself - we have a daily 8am/ 1hr exec meeting every morning and whilst I am normally in the office by 7:30 am I am busy preparing for my 8 meeting and anyone calling will get a very curt response

I've always found you have a better chance of getting through to people at 9am. Ringing near lunch time or after 4pm is a waste of time.

i really think the best way to call people is to email them or post the details to them. if the offer is good enough they will find the time to call you. I hate callers after 7pm - this is my valuable time which I spent with my family at home after the long working day. so avoid evening calls for sure.

 

Leave it 2 or 3 days after you have sent the letter, giving it time to get their.
Call times I would suggest 10am - 12 and 2 onwards.

Accountants -- Standard business hours except between January 15th and April 15th.
Bankers -- Before 10:00 am and after 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday
Clergy -- Between Tuesday and Friday
Dentists -- Between 9:00 am and 11:00 am, Monday through Friday
Doctors -- Before 9:30 am or after 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday
Engineers -- Between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday
Executives -- Before 9:00 am, during the lunch hour, and after 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday
Farmers -- Between 12 noon and 1:00 pm
General contractors -- Before 9:00 am, during the lunch hour, and after 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday
Grocers -- Between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm
Heads of businesses -- Before 9:00 am, during the lunch hour, and after 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday
